Product Overview
This sword is simply beautiful. Carried by Confederate field officers and cavalry officers, it conforms to the US Field officer's sword of the period, but it has open spaces instead of floral decorations between the branches. The branches and counter guard are decorated, in addition to the large letters "CS" (facing the blade). The knuckle guard has a slot for a saber knot and the pommel has a spray of laurel leaves along the forward edge. The wooden grip is wrapped with black leather and wound with twisted brass wire for a better grip. The scabbard is made of highly polished steel with brass ring mounts, rings, throat and drag. A sword of this type was carried by Gen. Joe Shelby, C.S.A. who never surrendered his command. Hence the sword is fondly called Gen. Joe Shelby sword. Blade length: 32 inches Overall length is: 39.5 inches.
