The M 1 Garand rifle was first issued with M1905 16" bayonet. The U.S. Military determined that a shorter bayonet was more useful in 1942. Existing stocks of M1905 bayonets were cut down to 10". New manufacture 10" bayonets were also produced. The cut-off bayonets have fuller that extends to the point but the new manufacture has fullers that stop about 3" from the point. It is made to original specifications from high carbon blued steel with hard plastic grips. 14 1/2" long with 10" blade.
