Product Overview
The M1872 Officer’s Epaulette – Shoulder Knots are accurate reproductions of the distinctive shoulder knots worn by U.S. Army officers from 1872 through 1888.
Constructed with golden metallic thread and cord, these shoulder knots are mounted on branch-colored velvet, with colors corresponding to service branch—yellow for Cavalry, red for Artillery, and blue for Infantry. The design follows official period patterns and matches the style used on shoulder straps of the era.
Each shoulder knot is designed to accept silver regiment numbers and metallic rank insignia, allowing officers to customize their uniform correctly. Rank insignia and regiment numbers are sold separately and must be attached by the user using epoxy or similar adhesive (not supplied).
Sold as a matching pair, these shoulder knots are ideal for historical reenactment, uniform restoration, ceremonial wear, display, or collection, providing an essential finishing detail for late 19th-century officer impressions.
