This Dark Age sword is the forerunner of the Saxon, Viking and Norman swords. This was a warrior's sword, and although it had a serviceable point, the primary function was that of a cutting weapon. The broad blade could deal a devastating blow, to all but the stoutest mail. This was a time when the sword was a man's best friend, and it went with him everywhere. Blade is high carbon steel, hand forged and well-tempered. The handsome hilt is all metal; the one piece cast brass grip is secured between a pommel and guard made of alternating layers of steel and brass. Black leather scabbard included. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts. A beautiful example of an early fighting sword. Temporarily out of stock. Check for availability. Overall-37 1/2" * Blade-31" long, 2" wide * Wt.-3 lbs.
