Product Overview
This Ames NCO sword made in 1840 is an excellent replica of one of the most legendary side arms used by noncommissioned officers of the United States during the Mexican War, Civil War and Spanish-American War. This sword is produced on the basis of the original Ames pattern and is created by Windlass Steelcrafts.
The main feature of this side arm is the blade which is 31-3/4 inches long and is made of hard-wearing 1075 high-carbon steel. The sword possesses a broad fuller that runs from the ricasso to the tip of the blade keeping it true to the original military-issue sword. The presence of AMES MFG CO / CHICOPEE / MASS and US / DFM / 1863 on the ricasso only adds to the historic value of this item.
A cast brass hilt consists of a ribbed grip, a kidney-shaped guard and a globular pommel with capstan construction as well as on original Ames-issued side arms. The sword comes in the wooden leather scabbard equipped with brass details.
