This sword,originaly made by the firm of Boyle, Gamble & Mc Fee, is the most common of the Confederate staff officer's swords. The counter guard contains the letters "CS" on a ribbon encircled by a wreath which in turn is surmounted by a star. Floral designs and an ear of corn also appear in the guard. The blade is etched consisting of a Confederate battle flag on one side, while the other side has the letters "CSA" in a floral design. The grip is black leather wrapped and wound with seven turns of brass wire. The scabbard is of black leather with brass mounts and two brass rings. Blade is 31" long, and the overall length is 36".
