Product Overview

These Civil War First Sergeant Chevrons are accurate reproductions of the rank insignia worn by First Sergeants, also known as Orderly Sergeants, during the American Civil War. Distinguished by three inverted bars with a diamond positioned above the point of the chevrons, this rank marking symbolized senior enlisted leadership and company-level authority.

Each chevron is constructed on a historically correct wool background, available in dark blue for Union Army impressions or gray for Confederate Army uniforms. The rank stripes are formed from half-inch cotton tape in the appropriate branch-of-service color, carefully applied to reflect period-correct construction and appearance. The centered lozenge, or diamond, is faithfully placed to replicate original Civil War examples.

Sold as a matching pair, these chevrons are designed for wear on uniform sleeves and are ideal for reenactments, living history events, museum displays, and historically accurate military collections. With attention to detail and authentic materials, they provide the proper visual authority expected of a First Sergeant impression.

Select your background color and stripe color to match your specific Union or Confederate uniform configuration.
